Jailer 2 crosses Rs 477 crore worldwide in first five days
Nelson Dilipkumar’s sequel accumulates substantial domestic and overseas earnings, surpassing the lifetime worldwide collections of Rajinikanth’s Kabali and Enthiran within its opening weekend.

CHENNAI: Rajinikanth's 'Jailer 2' has recorded a strong box office performance, crossing the Rs 477 crore mark worldwide in its first five days of release [2, 5]. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the sequel has emerged as the third-highest-grossing Indian film of 2026, driven by significant domestic and overseas collections.
The film, produced by Sun Pictures, continues the narrative of the 2023 blockbuster 'Jailer', with Rajinikanth reprising his role as the character 'Tiger' Muthuvel Pandian [1, 2]. The action entertainer features an ensemble cast including Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar, Ramya Krishnan, Vidya Balan, and Mithun Chakraborty, alongside cameo appearances by Hrithik Roshan and Jackie Shroff [1, 2]. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music for the project [1, 2].
According to trade tracker Sacnilk, 'Jailer 2' grossed an estimated Rs 477.75 crore globally by its fifth day. The domestic market contributed substantially, with the film accumulating an India net collection of Rs 242.25 crore and a gross of Rs 283.75 crore in the same period. Overseas markets added $20.5 million to the total. On its fifth day, coinciding with the Navratri holiday, the film recorded an India gross of Rs 49.50 crore, marking the highest first-Monday collection for a Tamil film [2, 5].
The day-wise domestic breakdown indicates sustained audience interest. On its opening day, the film collected Rs 59.70 crore net in India, followed by Rs 37.10 crore on the second day and Rs 47.25 crore on the third day. By the fourth day, the India net collection reached Rs 192.67 crore. The Tamil version led the fourth-day earnings with Rs 34.98 crore, while the Telugu and Hindi versions contributed Rs 8.47 crore and Rs 5.17 crore, respectively.
By its third day, the sequel had already surpassed the lifetime worldwide collections of Rajinikanth's previous hits 'Kabali' and 'Enthiran'. In the broader 2026 landscape, 'Jailer 2' has moved past the total collections of 'Border 2' and 'Hanuman Ansh', securing the third position among the year's highest-grossing Indian films, trailing only 'Dhurandhar The Revenge' and 'Drishyam 3'. It has also moved ahead of the four-day net totals of recent releases like Vijay’s 'Jana Nayagan' and Suriya’s 'Karuppu'.
The box office trajectory of 'Jailer 2' indicates a sustained audience appetite for large-scale regional cinema. The strong performance across Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi versions demonstrates the pan-India appeal of the franchise, suggesting that star-driven sequels continue to command significant market share despite a crowded release calendar.
As 'Jailer 2' progresses through its first week, trade analysts are monitoring its momentum to see if it can cross the Rs 500 crore mark domestically and challenge the all-time records of Rajinikanth's '2.0' and the original 'Jailer'. The film's continued theatrical run will serve as a critical indicator of the current market capacity for big-budget action entertainers.
