MUMBAI — Bajaj Finance has reported a robust set of operational metrics for the second quarter of FY27, underscoring its continued dominance in the non-banking financial company (NBFC) sector. The company’s Assets Under Management (AUM) surged by 26.5% year-on-year, reaching a formidable ₹5.85 lakh crore (₹5,84,750 crore).

This double-digit expansion highlights the lender’s ability to sustain aggressive credit growth despite broader macroeconomic headwinds and tightening liquidity conditions in the financial system.
A key driver of this momentum is the company’s rapidly expanding customer franchise, which now stands at 128.85 million.

This massive user base reflects Bajaj Finance’s successful penetration across both urban and semi-urban markets, leveraging its digital-first onboarding processes and diversified product portfolio. During the quarter, the NBFC booked 13.45 million new loans, marking an 11% increase from the 12.17 million loans recorded in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.

This operational update follows a stellar first quarter, where the company posted a net profit of ₹5,986 crore, setting a high baseline for profitability in FY27.

The consistent addition of over a million new loans per month demonstrates strong underlying consumer demand for personal, consumer durable, and small business financing, even as interest rates remain elevated.
Industry analysts view these preliminary numbers as a strong indicator of the company’s execution capabilities. The 11% growth in new loan bookings, coupled with a 26.5% jump in AUM, suggests that Bajaj Finance is successfully balancing volume growth with disciplined risk management.

By maintaining strict underwriting standards while scaling its digital lending platforms, the company appears well-positioned to protect its asset quality in a challenging credit cycle.
However, investors will now closely await the formal Q2 earnings announcement to evaluate the translation of this top-line growth into bottom-line results. Key metrics to watch include Net Interest Income (NII) margins, Gross and Net Non-Performing Assets (GNPA/NNPA), and the cost of risk through fresh provisioning.

If the company can maintain its historical return on equity (RoE) while absorbing higher borrowing costs, it will further solidify its premium valuation in the financial services space.
For now, the Q2 business update serves as a reaffirmation of Bajaj Finance’s market leadership. As the Indian consumption story continues to evolve, the NBFC’s ability to rapidly scale its loan book while expanding its customer base remains a critical catalyst for long-term shareholder value.
