NEW DELHI — State-owned railway infrastructure major Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) has secured a significant Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from the East Coast Railway for a ₹405 crore third-line construction project.

The contract, awarded on an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) basis, underscores the company’s continued dominance in securing critical railway expansion mandates across India.

The newly awarded project involves extensive civil engineering works, including the construction of roadbeds, bridges, and allied track infrastructure necessary to establish a third railway line along a key East Coast Railway corridor.

This capacity augmentation is a strategic priority for Indian Railways, aimed at decongesting high-density freight and passenger routes, improving turnaround times, and enhancing overall network resilience.

The announcement triggered a positive market reaction, with RVNL shares closing at ₹210.30 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), marking a gain of ₹9.15, or 4.55%, during the trading session.

Investors view this latest order as a strong validation of RVNL’s execution capabilities and its consistent success in emerging as the lowest bidder (L1) for complex, high-value railway contracts.

This ₹405 crore win adds to RVNL’s robust and growing order book, which has been a primary driver of the company’s revenue visibility over the past few quarters.

The Ministry of Railways has been aggressively pushing the "Mission Raftaar" and dedicated freight corridor initiatives, which heavily rely on third and fourth-line constructions to eliminate bottlenecks in the existing network.

By securing this East Coast Railway mandate, RVNL reinforces its position as a preferred execution partner for the government’s ambitious railway modernization agenda.
Industry analysts note that the EPC model provides RVNL with greater control over project timelines and cost efficiencies, thereby protecting profit margins.

Furthermore, the company’s established supply chain and experienced project management teams position it well to meet the stringent completion deadlines typically associated with such infrastructure mandates.

As the Indian government continues to allocate record capital expenditure toward railway infrastructure, companies like RVNL are poised to remain at the forefront of this multi-decade growth story. The successful execution of this latest East Coast Railway project will be closely watched as a benchmark for the company’s operational efficiency in the coming fiscal year
