Lyricist Super Subbu brought a light-hearted moment to the pre-release event of Sigma by drawing attention to a key family supporter of debut director Jason Sanjay.
Speaking on stage, Subbu pointed to a man seated in the audience and identified him as Sanjeev, Jason’s uncle and a relative of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor Vijay.
He remarked that Sanjeev had stood by the young filmmaker throughout the making of Sigma, helping meet the practical requirements of a first-time director.
Subbu added a humorous comparison, likening their relationship to the entertaining uncle-and-nephew dynamic seen in the film Paruthiveeran.
The exchange drew laughter from the crowd and quickly circulated on social media, adding momentum to the film’s promotional campaign.
Sigma marks Jason Sanjay’s directorial debut. The action-adventure heist film stars Sundeep Kishan and Faria Abdullah in the lead roles, with music by Thaman.
It is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 2, 2026.
Produced under the Lyca Productions banner, the project has generated interest both for its story and for the high-profile family background of its director.
Jason has previously spoken about the encouragement he received from his parents and other family members when deciding to step behind the camera.
The recent stage comments from Super Subbu specifically spotlighted the hands-on role played by Sanjeev during production.
Sanjeev is also credited in a creative capacity on the film.
The viral clip has kept the conversation around Sigma active in the weeks leading up to its release.
Audiences will be able to judge the final result when the film reaches theatres next month.
Further promotional events are expected as the October 2 date approaches.
