Punjabi singer and actor Ammy Virk is safe after a vehicle associated with his concert convoy came under fire in Abbotsford, British Columbia.
The incident occurred late on the night of September 5, shortly after Virk finished a performance at Rogers Forum.
According to local police, occupants of a dark-coloured SUV fired multiple rounds at a vehicle travelling in the 2500-block of McCallum Road around 11 pm.
Reports indicated that more than seven shots were discharged. No one was injured.
Initial accounts linked the targeted vehicle to the post-concert convoy accompanying the singer.
Virk’s father, Kuljit Singh, later clarified that his son and the family were unharmed and that the shooting was not directed at Ammy’s personal vehicle.
He said information received by the family pointed to a connection with the show’s organisers or promoters rather than a direct attack on the artiste.
Ammy Virk himself addressed circulating reports on social media, stating that he was completely fine and had not been involved in the incident as described in some accounts.
A member of his team confirmed the attack took place after the show but said the reason remained unclear and that the singer was safe.
Abbotsford Police are investigating the shooting. Officers also responded to a separate report of a vehicle fully engulfed in flames a short distance away; investigators are examining whether the two events are related.
No arrests or motive have been publicly detailed so far.
The episode has drawn attention amid previous incidents involving Punjabi entertainers in Canada, though police have not confirmed any specific link in this case.
Virk continues his professional activities while the probe remains open.
Further updates are expected from Canadian authorities as the investigation progresses.
